Komodo National Park lies between the two islands of Sumbawa and Flores island between the border of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Here have three major islands , the islands in Komodo Island, Rinca Island and Padar Island and the rest are small islands with a land area of 603 km2. Total area of komodo island right now is 1917 km2.
Komodo National Park were found around 1980 and has been in the state one of the world that need to be protected and the biosphere reserve by the UNESCO in 1986. National Park was originally in the form in order to save species unique and rare dragon (Komodo), which in the know with scientific language Varanus komodoensis whichwas first found by JKH Van Steyn about the year 1911. After that Komodo Dragons are not only protected but all good biodiversity of marine and terrestrial conservation areas included in Komodo National Park.
The majority of the people who live on Komodo Island and its surroundings is a fisherman who comes from the Bima (Sumbawa), Manggara, South Flores, South Sulawesi ribe originally lived as nomadic tribes who likes to move from one place to other places.
